Kenmare Laerskool – Die Swart Masjien

Kenmare Laerskool is situated on the West Rand with Monnas and Noordheuwel the two high schools who battles for the well-balanced children that they produce. Kenmare has 1300 learners of which 44% is boys. Of that 44% only 35% play rugby, and for those who can not calculate only 200 boys play rugby.

Kenmare played in the past two years in 7 out of 8 possible finals in the Golden Lions league in all the age groups and won 5. 2017 saw Kenmare winning the u/10 and u/13 titles in the Golden Lions League.

Kenmare had 10 players in the Golden Lions provincial teams with 5 boys playing in the u/13 Craven Week at Bloemfontein. 5 boys represented the Golden Lions in the u/12 Week at Vryheid.

Morne Kruger was appointed coach of the Craven Week Team and Peter du Toit the coach of the Golden Lions 7's team in 2017.

The 1st XV had a wonderful season in 2017 and if it was not for Paarl Gymnasium in Bloemfontein and Kimberley this would have been an unbeaten season. Kenmare scored 1045 points against 102 scored by their opponents. A well-coached side that uses their big forwards to dominate their opponents and after earning the right to go wide the do with devastating effects. This side shows a level of composure not normally associated with a side this young. They have the patience to set up phases until the right opportunity presents itself to attack and when they attack it is not always with a physical mindset but their backline has mastered the technique to attack the gaps their opponents leave. With one match left against Wonderboom Laerskool, the champions of the Blue Bulls the boys from Kenmare will travel to Loftus with one thing on their mind. Winning.

What to expect for 2018: Although Kenmare head coach Morne Kruger was poached by Monnas alongside most of their u/13 players, Kenmare will look on another brilliant season with 5 Golden Lions u/12 players coming back alongside with a lot of well-coached boys who will be eager to do better as the 2017 crop.
